Volunteers are invited to don a campaign shirt, join the crowd, and enjoy the many displays and activities. Polk County's Front Porch Thursday, April 23, 8:00 p.m. Robert will be the special guest online on Polk County's own chat forum, the Front Porch. Step onto the virtual front porch at www.polk-county.com, and pull up a chair. There you can discuss issues that are important to you, and share your ideas with the candidate in real time. Kiwanis Club of Lake Wales Thursday, August 13, 12:00 p.m. Robert will address the Kiwanis Club at Jeanette's Restaurant, 253 East Stuart Avenue. Kiwanis Club of Mulberry Tuesday, August 18, 12:00 p.m. Robert will be speaking at the Kiwanis Clubhouse, downtown Mulberry. Civic Club of Fort Meade Thursday, August 20, 12:00 p.m. Robert will speak to the Fort Meade Civic Club, meeting in the Lion's Den, 214 West Broadway Connors is Available to Speak to Your Civic Club Robert Connors is a popular and informative speaker, knowledgeable about a host of topics of local interest. Polk County Civic clubs and organizations are invited to send Robert e-mail to arrange to have him come as a guest speaker, to discuss the many pressing issues facing us in the near and long-term future. This informative talk can be tailored to fit your time allotment. Petition Drive Progresses In early January we began gathering the necessary signatures of registered Democrats to qualify for a place on the primary ballot this fall. Voters may sign only one card per candidate, but may sign for as many candidates as they wish. We have already collected about 2,000 cards, but need about 1,500 more, including yours. If you would like to receive one or more petition cards by mail, please drop us a note here at connors@polk-county.com We also need volunteers who will call on friends and neighbors, to help us gather these all-important signatures. Just a few minutes invested can yield big results. If you can help by keeping a few cards handy, please let us know. Volunteers Needed We need Volunteers for our campaign. Changing the face of local government can be a rewarding experience. Our present needs include volunteers who will help by collecting a few petition signatures from their family, friends, and neighbors. It's easy, takes only a minute to complete, and can make all the difference in our future. If you would like to help in this or any other effort, please send us e-mail! We are looking forward to hearing from you. Sign Locations Needed Busy streets are needed this summer for good locations for signs for the campaign. We'll have the standard, wire frame yard signs, as well as larger signs designed for commercial areas and highways. If you know of a good, available location for a larger sign, please let us know as soon as possible. We are currently planning the number and locations of these signs, which play an important part in our "visibility campaign." Beginning about July 4, we will also be distributing our small yard signs. If you would be willing to display one in your neighborhood, please drop us a note, and we'll reserve it now. Then, we'll deliver it when the time approaches. It's easy, and you'll be an important part of our campaign! In-Home Events Planned We are very grateful to all the people who have already opened their homes, in order to give us a chance to meet their friends and neighbors. We would love to meet you, and Robert and Susan Connors yours! If you would like to host an in-home event - be it a morning coffee, luncheon, lemonade social, or evening reception - please contact us.
