This section is designed to provide you with information relating to the operation of the museum. Please
explore the red buttons to the left for answers to all your Museum-related questions.
Admission and Special Rules
Admission to the Polk Museum of Art is FREE and the Museum has maintained that policy since its
founding in 1966. There are charges for certain special events, classes, and performances. Smoking, food and
beverages are prohibited in the Museum. Photography is not permitted, except by prior arrangement. All
camera equipment must be left in the checkroom.
Museum Hours
Galleries and Museum Shop:
Tuesday - Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
The Museum is closed to the public Mondays and major holidays.
Administrative Offices:
Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Closed Saturday and Sunday and major holidays.
Governance
The Museum is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the arts in
Central Florida and is governed by a 36-member Board of Trustees comprised of public spirited citizens
of Central Florida's Polk County who establish annual goals and objectives for the Polk Museum of Art.
Additionally, the Board of Governors serves as an advisory body to the Board of Trustees and assists
with long range planning and development of the Museum.
Accessibility
The Museum is fully accessible. A wheelchair is available at the information desk in the front lobby
for guests needing assistance. The permanent installation of Precolumbian artifacts includes a tactile
exhibition with Braille text and study-collection objects which can be touched and examined closely.
Wall text is installed to be read at wheelchair height.
