VVV

In a nutshell, VVV uses Vagrant to get a virtual machine set up in VirtualBox that allows for quick and easy WordPress development.

The number of tools included is impressive, although it does add to bloat as some critics have pointed out. For me, hard drive space is cheap enough that I don’t mind the bloat. I haven’t found any real performance issues.

The basics are provided: an Ubuntu base system, PHP, a web server, a database server, and even WP-CLI. It includes other great tools like Git and memcache as well.

VVV: A tool with a simple purpose

Adding new local development WordPress environments to a single installation is easy. Just edit few files.

If you do any WordPress development, VVV is worth a look, despite it’s silly complicated name.
